Unexpected repairs can eat into your savings, quickly adding up to thousand-pound bills. An Audi warranty will give you the reassurance you need to enjoy your car, even if it’s an older model that’s more susceptible to damage.

Audi Reliability: Common Audi Repairs

The MotorEasy Reliability Index measures the dependability of a car using the average frequency and cost of repairs for over 1,200 models. It reveals some of the hidden costs of ownership and the likelihood of something going wrong.

Each model is given a reliability score ranging from -100 (red), for a high frequency and/or high cost of repair, through to +100 (green), where there is a low frequency and cost of repair.

The index also includes model-specific data on:

  • The typical repairs needed for each model, including the percentage of claims for engine, gearbox, electrical system, suspension, braking system, and fuel system repairs
  • Common repairs you would be covered for with an Audi warranty
  • The average cost for each of the above types of repairs

Audi Warranty Comparison: Average MotorEasy Quotes vs Manufacturer Comprehensive Warranty

As of November 2021, MotorEasy compared the average cost of an Audi extended car warranty with its own equivalent to assess which plan is better value for money. The quotes below reflect average prices at the time, with all savings accurate as of November 2021.

These prices reveal an average saving of £354, with MotorEasy warranty quotes typically costing at least £85 less than going to the manufacturer directly. These prices don’t consider MotorEasy discounts or promotions, which means the actual savings could be even greater.

Audi Warranty FAQs

How Long is an Audi Warranty?

An Audi manufacturer extended warranty lasts 12 months and you can only take out cover if your car has less than 100,000 miles on the clock. On the other hand, a MotorEasy extended warranty can protect you for 12, 24, or 36 months and covers up to 120,000 miles.

How can I check if my Audi has a warranty?

Go to the Audi website and enter your registration number to see whether your car is covered under a manufacturer warranty.

How Much Does an Audi Warranty Cost?

You can buy an extended Audi warranty from £201 a year, but that seemingly reasonable price comes with quite a few conditions:

  • It only covers named components (not all parts)
  • You’re limited to 10,000 miles a year
  • Your Audi must have under 60,000 miles
  • The engine size must be under 1.6L
  • You must accept a £250 excess on claims

When we checked Audi’s website, we couldn’t find a quote at the advertised £201. For example, a 2017 Audi A1 TFSI 1.0L returned a quote of £314 per year through Audi. Audi does give you the option to get the upgraded version of their warranty, which covers more, but of course this comes at an additional price.

The same car, covered by MotorEasy? Just £283 per year: around a 10% saving compared to Audi’s most basic plan.

And with MotorEasy, you also get:

  • Faults due to overheating
  • No £250 excess (you choose a repair contribution of £0, £25 or £50)
  • Better value, more flexibility, and broader protection

All things considered, a MotorEasy warranty offers:

  • Lower cost
  • More comprehensive cover
  • No expensive excess
  • Flexible repair contribution
  • Gives you interest free instalment options
  • Is trusted by over 1.2 million motorists.

What’s Not Covered?

No warranty covers everything, no matter how comprehensive the plan. The following usually isn’t included in Audi extended warranties:

  • Routine servicing and maintenance
  • Accidental damage or crash repairs
  • Modifications not approved by the manufacturer
  • Issues from missed services or ignored warning lights

For a detailed exclusions list, visit this page.

Will Modifying My Audi Void the Warranty?

Using unapproved parts or skipping services could invalidate your Audi warranty. Be careful of the following to maintain your protection:

  • Stick to the service schedule
  • Use genuine or approved Audi parts
  • Report faults early
  • Avoid mechanical or software modifications unless cleared by your provider

Our advice? Always try to rectify an issue as soon as you notice it to avoid accidentally invalidating your cover.

Why is a MotorEasy Extended Warranty Better?

New Audis come with a 3-year manufacturer warranty, with the option to extend up to 5 years at purchase. After that, many owners switch to MotorEasy for more cost-effective and comprehensive protection.

Here’s just some of the reasons why:

  • Longer coverage (up to 3 years post-manufacturer)
  • Includes cover for failures caused by overheating
  • Greater repair location flexibility

Got a Used Audi? We’ve Got You Covered.

If your used Audi is under 12 years old and has done less than 120,000 miles, you’re eligible for a MotorEasy used Audi warranty. Even if the manufacturer's warranty has expired, you can enjoy proper protection and peace of mind, wherever your car takes you.

How Reliable Are Audis?

According to the MotorEasy Reliability Index, Audi vehicles rank somewhere in the middle. They boast advanced tech, which can increase the chances of repair claims, making extended warranty protection a good idea.
