New partnership gives customers access to discounts on products including warranty, GAP insurance and use of a ‘digital garage’ to build service history

Millions of Halfords customers are set to benefit from a new partnership with MotorEasy, the UK’s fastest growing motoring association.

The two companies are looking to take a larger slice of the UK aftersales market, worth an annual £21.1billion.

Halfords customers will enjoy generous discounts on a broad range of MotorEasy’s car protection products, while saving time and money on servicing and repairs through a jointly-branded 'digital garage' service.

The online platform, which comes complete with handy reminders on key dates such as tax and MOT renewal, will help motorists to build a digital record on their car, boosting resale value.

In challenging times, there is clear evidence that owners are keeping their cars for longer – using warranties to protect against mechanical failure, as well as specialist insurance to cover everything from bodywork to batteries.

While products such as GAP, cosmetic, alloy wheel and tyre insurance have tended to favour newer car owners, for the first time these will now also be available to drivers of older cars following a simple Halfords health check.

Customers who buy protection products through the Halfords website will also benefit from savings on servicing, MOTs and repairs through its nationwide network of 374 Halfords Autocentres.

All workshop activity will also be stored in a Halfords MotorEasy digital garage, allowing motorists to build an accurate record of their vehicles’ service and maintenance history.

Duncan McClure Fisher, founder and CEO of MotorEasy, said: “Partnering with Halfords allows us to build a joined-up set of products to help motorists save time and money throughout the life of their vehicle.

“While our protection products offer comprehensive cover at the best price, our digital garage helps customers build the value of their vehicle, keeping a convenient record of service and workshop history to pass onto future owners”.

Halfords Services Director Anthony Caie said: “Both Halfords and MotorEasy are driven by a goal of championing the consumer. We have been working with MotorEasy since its launch and are looking forward to introducing its full range of products and services to our customers.

“In particular we hope that the reminder service, which ensures members drive legally with a current MOT, will help – with customers able to book these through our Halfords Autocentre network.”
